inazuma: I like that idea. So anything sea-related is what we export like seashells, seafood, maybe we trade by boat, etc. Can you think of anything else sea related? My brain is kind of not working at the moment. lol

My brain is kind of not working at the moment. lol Yeah. The kingdom are frenemies with the Hagfish Hive of changelings who also happen to be sea based (if you couldn't tell from the name). We own the strongest Sea-based Battleships most of which belong to Hope's End but are willing to lend a few to the military. We are allies with the Sea-ponies. Since we live near the ocean we use Hydro-Electricity and water-pollution is considered a very severe crime punishable by time in Hope's End. Also our province does have the death penalty. |

So we're a very sea dependent kingdom ? Well yes and no. The rest of the kingdom does also benefit from the sea but it's the province of Swainia in particular where the royals live that does the most. |

Story Notes So Far:
The creatures of Tartarus are trying to cross over into Equestria and take it for themselves, getting rid of or enslaving anyone who isn't from Tartarus (which goes with the WWII theme quite well). Prince Jirard's brother Prince John has a connection with Tartarus and is trying to aid the dark creatures (since he is a wizard who uses dark magic). Once we defeat Prince Jirard's brother in a war, then his kingdom will become part of Night Fall.
Jirard invades Ranomnia with his men. Ranomnia is Jirard's area of origin, and it's ruled by his evil brother John. Night Fall takes over Ranomnia to free the people from hs brother's oppression.
Night Fall worships Luna. Kingdom of Ranomnia worships Fulgur, a bat alicorn who controls. clouds and storms.
Note: Swainia and the Capital of Mugen are where the Royals live. Basically Mugen is Night Fall's Canterlot.
The province Swainia is located near the South Luna Ocean and Hope's End Max. Prison is located in the Ocean underwater in order to make escape attempts harder. Hope's End Prison is also the only place in the kingdom where neither the Royals, military or government have no power or sway. The Chief Warden holds absolute power over the entire prison, it's prisoners and it's staff. This is to prevent corruption, once one is inside the prison all outside laws are rendered null and void.

How the Night Fall Government Is Organized:
The Constitution of Night Fall divides the government into three branches to ensure a central government in which no individual or group gains too much control:
Legislative – Makes laws (Parliament - Senate and House of Representatives)
Executive – Carries out laws (Royal House, Privy Council, Prime Minister, Cabinet)
Judicial – Evaluates laws (Supreme Court and Other Courts)
The Privy Council serves the Royal House as their personal council. The cabinet serves the Prime Minister as their personal council.
Each branch of government can change acts of the other branches as follows:
The Royal House can veto laws passed by Parliament.
Parliament confirms or rejects the Royal House's appointments and can remove a corrupt leader from office in exceptional circumstances.
The justices of the Supreme Court, who can overturn unconstitutional laws, are appointed by the Royal House and confirmed by the Senate.
The Night Fall government seeks to act in the best interests of its citizens through this system of checks and balances.
Legislative Branch:
The legislative branch enacts legislation, confirms or rejects Royal House appointments, and has the authority to declare war.
This branch includes Parliament (the Senate and House of Representatives) and several agencies that provide support services to Parliament. Night Fall citizens have the right to vote for senators and representatives through free, confidential ballots.
Senate - There are two elected senators per province, totaling 24 senators. A senate term is six years and there's no limit to the number of terms an individual can serve.
House of Representatives - There are 48 elected representatives (4 per province), which are divided among the 12 provinces in proportion to their total population. There are additional non-voting delegates who represent the Principality of Crowshaw and the territories. A representative serves a two-year term, and there's no limit to the number of terms an individual can serve.
Executive Branch:
The executive branch carries out and enforces laws. It includes the Royal House, the Prime Minister, the Cabinet, the Privy Council, executive departments, independent agencies, and other boards, commissions, and committees.
Night Fall citizens have the right to vote for any member of government that is not the Royal House (who are born into their positions) through free, confidential ballots.
Key roles of the executive branch include:
The Royal House - The Royal House leads the country. It is the head of state, leader of the federal government, and commander-in-chief of the Night Fall Armed Forces. The Royal House members are born into their positions but can be removed from their position by the Parliament if they are seen unfit for their positions in the royal court.
Prime Minister - The Prime Minister supports the Royal House. If no member of the Royal House is able to serve the country (for some reason), the Prime Minister will become a member of the Royal House. The Prime Minister can serve an unlimited number of four-year terms.
The Cabinet - Cabinet members serve as advisers to the Prime Minister. They include the Prime Minister and the heads of executive departments. Cabinet members are nominated by the Royal House and must be approved by the House of Representatives (with at least 25 votes). The cabinet is made up of 14 members.
The Privy Council: Privy Council members serve as advisers to the Royal House. They include the Royal House and the heads of executive departments. Privy Council members are nominated by the Royal House and must be approved by the Senate (with at least 13 votes). The privy council is made up of 12 members.
Judicial Branch:
The judicial branch interprets the meaning of laws, applies laws to individual cases, and decides if laws violate the Constitution.
The judicial branch is comprised of the Supreme Court and other federal courts.
Supreme Court - The Supreme Court is the highest court in the Kingdom of Night Fall. The justices of the Supreme Court are nominated by the Royal House and must be approved by the Senate (with at least 13 votes). Parliament decides the number of justices. Currently, there are nine. There is no fixed term for justices. They serve until their death, retirement, or removal in exceptional circumstances.
Other Federal Courts - The Constitution grants Congress the authority to establish other federal courts.
Typically, all lands are granted by the King and Queen, depending on the population of the town, low population below 10,000 would be a shire and be granted to a lord and lady of the court, Barony is larger, up to 100,000 and is granted to a Baron and Baroness, anything larger is a Principality, and is ruled by a Prince and Princess.
Shire, Barony, and Principalities are regions of lands in a province. Shire = City. Principality = County. Barony = state.
There are 12 provinces, 12 governors of the provinces, the shires are the cities, the barony is a region within a province, and the principality would be the entire kingdom. Principalities would would over see the baronies. Baronies would over see the shires.
Night Fall rules over captures countries as well. Captured countries could retain their king, but then the king of the captured kingdom would become the High King and still have final say. The captured king would become the low king.
A house is like a group of close friends led by the the lord and lady of the house, they can be in a shire or principality or barony. Royal House is the royal family.
Guilds are much like a house, except a guild is a group with a vested interest in a particular thing and is led by Masters or Mistresses of that craft, such as a music guild.
Ministries are the final word of guilds, though the ministry is subject to the Royal House. A ministry could also over see several related guilds.
